[Question] The Charlie Thread

Watching the Charlie Brown New Year special, it occurs to me that every love interested is unrequited.

Did Schultz binge on anime as a youth?

Funny story, if you didn't hear me talk about it in another thread.

We are getting Cary ready for bed after Thanksgiving dinner, and grandpa suggests watching the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special, which Cary has never seen. Ok, it's short, so we cave and turn it on in time for Cary to see Charlie Brown mulling whether or not to kick that football. There's stuff going on in the kitchen (we've had a bunch of people over), so we leave him there to watch the show.

About 10min later, Cary comes into the kitchen. "Mom, the TV is broke. The little boy with the lightning shirt is gone away, something else is going." Well, this TV has the DVD/VCR/PS2/N64/ETC hooked up to it, so we expect he's gone and played with the remote again (he's 4) and changed the channel/input somehow, or powered on the VCR by poking the buttons and interrupted the cable.

Nope.

Turns out ... there's nothing at all wrong with anything. This just happens to be the first time Cary has ever seen commercial television, and so he has never had to experience an actual commercial before. Up until now, he has watched VHS, DVDs, PBS, Amazon Prime, YouTube, etc. and has never seen a commercial, and now because someone interrupted his cartoon to tell him about the fantastic deals at Art Van furniture or something, he thinks the TV is broken.

Heh. Parenthood.
