Games on SALE!

Every time Just Cause 2 goes on sale on Steam, I post about it here. This time is no different. Just Cause 2 for $2.99.

What is different this time, though, is that the Multiplayer Mod was released today. And by all appearances, it is glorious.

3 years after launch, a single player PC game gets multiplayer added by the community.

3 years after launch, a console game's multiplayer often gets shut down.

I own most of the good bits, but there realyl are some amazing deals to be had, so head on over and check it out. Plenty of 80%+ sales.

I snagged the Humble PC and Android Bundle 8 because of Hero Academy. I've been wanting something turn-based to play on my phone, and hopefully this will really be turn based, in that I'll be able to play it in a distraction heavy environment (read: green room) and be able to turn away from the screen without losing. I'm also intrigued by Gemini Rue

As for the games in the bundle I've played, there's only Little Inferno, which is fantastic. It's not a long game, or very complex, but it's really charming and has some humorous social commentary. Plunk down a buck for this one, it's worth it. If my phone could run the app version, I'd play it again.

Shadowrun Returns released on GOG.com at $11.99 for the first 48 hours. That's cheaper than it was during the Steam holiday sales and without DRM, so anyone interested, pick it up. It's good, in case you were wondering.
I picked it up during the Steam sale, Deluxe edition. It's excellent. The SNES version was one of my favorite games, and this one is superior. I love that the designers went "Instead of spending enormous amounts of time designing an engine that will replicate the hopelessly mechanics of the pen and paper game, let's use a streamlined and intuitive engine that players will have fun using that captures the 'feel' of Shadowrun instead." I'd never played XCOM so I didn't realize it used the same basic tactical system as XCOM: Enemy Unknown or Jagged Alliance. And the way Matrix exploration and combat is done is WAY better than in the Pen & Paper version - or at least, in 2nd edition, which was the version I played.

I wasn't complaining.

It just seems like they get more frequent. It's at the point now where I don't have anything left to buy, no matter how much I want to.

Hey the original Metal Gear Solid got a PC release.

MGR is awesome in that Platinum Games way, as in, totally batshit insane even compared to vanilla Metal Gear games. Carving up cyborgs to the buttrockest of nu-metal is my jam.

The original Metal Gear WAS a PC release. The NES version was just a watered down and changed version for the consoles. The MSX version from MGS3: Subsistence is completely different.

Huh, went to buy Dishonored, figured I wouldn't get to it for a while, but might as well grab it when on sale...turns out I already own it. Guess I have too many Steam games.

Is Recettear worth $5?
It's basically a dungeon crawler meets resource gathering game. I played the crap out of it, but it really depends if you are into that kind thing.

I was expecting a real economics/shop simulation, and was kind of disappointed at the amount of dungeon crawling required to succeed at the game. I was genuinely trying to play as a shopkeeper alone but the mortgage payments very quickly become impossible to meet as such.

But, if dungeon crawling is your thing, you may like it.

Thinking of getting Monaco but I don't know anyone who'd want to play it. I'm not much of an online gamer. Certainly not compared to, say, Jay.

Eh. More Steam sales water them down. Instead of AWESOME DEALS JUST NOW AND NEVER EVER OTHERWISE it's now "oh look, several good deals on one day. Nice. Only 75% off? I'll wait 'till it's at -80%".

I have nothing left to buy, and those games I might be interested in are a max of -50% off or aren't priced down at all. And I'm not buying anything over $10 - I have literally over a hundred games unplayed, and very few of those are small indie games.
Heck, counting GOG, I'm pretty sure my "unplayed games" go in the thousands of hours. That's ridiculous.

Ravenpoe121's Steam library would take approx. 2084.25 hours to complete.

That's 86.84 days!

Well, the final boss is pretty tough.
Yeah but the game gives you so much ammo in the area leading up to the final boss that you can basically forget everything you learned throughout the course of the game. Stuff like taking cover and conserving ammo no longer matter, you just sit there and unload your guns into him, and use healing potions to restore HP as needed. Plus you can tell your companions to flank him, which means he won't be able to use his tower shield power in all directions, further increasing the damage he takes. And then near the end, when he starts calling down lightning, just put on the Dragon Armor and it'll reduce the damage to nothing, switching back to the Wyvern Armor when he goes back to fire attacks.

Wait, what are we talking about again?
