[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

This looks bananas.

I trust you Wachowskis.

Of course, I liked Speed Racer.

Early spoiler: Sean Bean doesn't make it.

The Wachowski Siblings? Fuck yeah, I don't need to know anymore. I'm in.

And now, after watching the trailer... here's a quote from way back when I talked about Cloud Atlas.

I'd happily watch a feature length movie set in the futuristic Seoul, which showcased some of the best cyberpunk sci-fi since Blade Runner.
They heard me!

I like that it seems like we get started from outside Earth and get carried in, as opposed to starting with average Joe as protagonist whose ordinary life is interrupted by aliens/wizards/vampires/etc.

If that's really her at ~1:07 and they continue that scene a few seconds, I will watch this movie a lot.

Me watching the trailer: Cool halo jump, Do the roar, do the roar, OH LOOK BRYAN CRANSTON, do the roar, AH HE DID THE ROAR SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I am hyped for this fucking movie. HEISENBERG VERSUS GODZILLA!

I'm sure you are.
DRR! Let me be clear I am still on season 3 and feel silly for not getting the reference.
Here's a trailer for a BEAUTIFUL animated adaptation of Princess Kuguya.

That halo jump scene is a thing of cinematic beauty...
See, now I hated it. Sure it looked cool, but none of them deployed chutes. Were they all committing suicide? We need to ask @Docseverin, but I think they were too low in the trailer to deploy safely.

I know what HALO is. But the link you sent says nothing about what elevation chutes are deployed. Looking at stats, I find that these guys were WAY under that ceiling and minimum pack deployment is at 2,000 ft. Now, the Empire State Building is only 1454 feet (give or take) and the clip shows them falling next to a building and even right above Godzilla himself, who is only 200 meters or so tall. So these guys most likely went splat, which makes no sense.

I did find one site that said combat minimums can be at around 800', but if there are any issues there would be no time for reserves.

SO yeah, I still have a problem with this clip.

You guys will find anything to bitch about.
Sorry, man! Isn't there anything in movies that you look at and go, "What?!?" Like when hackers in movies do stuff and it totally takes you out of it.

Like this scene in NCIS where the computer "experts" gang up on a hacker by using the same keyboard.

It just makes you shake your head and question everything. EVERYTHING!

I can't speak for Military Free Fall but we on the team have an exception to policy allowing us to open at 2,000 ft. All other D licensed skydivers must have container opening by 2,500 ft. Is it possible to skydive down to 1500 feet and live yes, I've done it. Is it smart? No. And I am pretty sure the 800ft thing is a static line rule but that may actually be 400 ft.

Movie magic at its finest.

Giant radioactive lizard destroying a city? Sure. But show paratroopers opening their chutes lower than normal? That is unrealistic, and I won't watch it.

Geek logic at its finest.

Well I also see HALO as a stealth insertion method... and they were trailing flares and smoke in a twilight hour.

I can forgive that due to the environment into which they are jumping - a smoky landscape in which visibility is poor. The smoke & flares would allow them to track one another while assuming that the giant lizard doesn't give a shit about them. But the lower they got the more I went, "Poor guys. They be dead."

I'll leave off, though. It's just one of those things with me. The giant lizard I'm able to look past because the premise of the movie is that a giant beast suddenly appears and how we deal with it. But giant lizards don't make parachutes suddenly follow a different set of physical laws. I'll still watch and probably enjoy the movie, but it'll still bother me.

Dave, you're clearly not taking into account the updraft caused by giant lizard farts. Those guys will barely be moving by the time they get near the ground.
