I think we could have a pretty decent thread on "what do you say when your parents come over?" in response to specific images. That one could be the thread-starter.
And on that one, honestly it's fine except for the *cough* "headboard" there. The rest could just be a different design for under-bed storage for people who like a high mattress. As a 6'7" guy, I appreciate a high bed to get in/out of. But that one thing at the foot of the bed... ya.

The 'stocks' there are in place with butterfly screws: easy enough to ro remove it when people might be in. Get a bed skirt to lay around the base. Sure, it's made of metal, which is unusual but not exactly suggestive.
Man, I'm not even into that but concealing it seems pretty easy.
Fun fact: one time, after getting quite drunk at the house of a friend I'd never been to before, I woke up in her roommate's bed (he was out of town), where there were, uhm... various 'restraints' lying around and some still attached to bed. I was a little worried about my night for a bit.

I've considered that for my dog before.... save the space of a crate.

Also, if they were serious about this sort of thing, they'd have vibration-dampening inserts under the corners.
