[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

Nothing says love like being chained to a radiator...
It puts the lotion on it's skin...[DOUBLEPOST=1383688899,1383688538][/DOUBLEPOST]
I spend most of my days around academics, and the kind of petty/childish, sometimes just plain rude things that they do to each other makes me shake my head... I'm sorry to hear it; I've known people in similar circumstances.
It just made me sad. I thought the guy was a friend (which I don't have a lot of). My naive self thought that higher academy would mean a higher caliber of person. I've worked with better people at McDonald's and at a cabinet shop. Oh well. Lesson learned.

Yeah... Yeah. Academics. Not to say I don't know a lot of good ones, but they're the ones who have been kicked, stabbed in the back and worn out.

I have an oral exam for a job later today. Of course, I woke up at 3:30 am and couldn't get ot sleep again, so that sucks. I also have no clue what to expect - scenarios I have to answer, questions about legislation, an interview,... which doesn't exactly help.

I decided that, to ease my mind and help me unwind, I'd play a game I'd bought a while ago and was looking forward to - Heroes of Might and Magic VI. New pc, haven't played a single game yet. Download...Install...Cannot play because of fucked up DRM bug in UPLAY....GRAGHAGHRHAGH. Read Steam forums, find out everyone who bought the game during that sale had the same issue and, rather than solve it generally, Ubisoft has been handing out new codes to unlock all separate parts for those who file tickets.
oh, also? between that last post and now, Ubisoft has stopped on line support for this game.
So....That was a well-spent $15 for an intro movie. It was also a great way to heap up some more pointless frustration and irritation on a day i was supposed to relax in preparation for something actually important. Thanks, Ubisoft!
[DOUBLEPOST=1383740029,1383739800][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh, and just to add insult to injury, quite illegally, they just put Belgium down as monolingually French, so all support answers (the automated mail etc) are in French only. Err, that language is spoken by 30% of the population. It's very, very much illegal to only communicate in one language in Belgium, no matter which one. Try talking to English-speaking Canadians in French and see how far you're going to get. Bastards.

Time for an Executive Email Carpet Bomb. Find the email addresses for everyone high up in Ubisoft, write a polite email detailing your problems, and how they're operating illegally in Belguim. I think you've got a good chance at getting a response.

My brother rotates his "How ya doin'?" answers...

Voodooin'
Hairdoin'
Mildewin'
...

I go for the simple...

"Pretty good for a man my age."

Then when the over 60 set gives me a go to hell look... I say "It gets less funny each year I say that."
My stock response (which I appropriated from the boss of the plant where I used to work) goes:
Them: "How are you today?"
Me: "Upright and taking nourishment."

I got in trouble at work today. Yesterday I had brought some treats to the office and the conversation with a co-worker went something like this:

CW: Hey, did you bring the treats?
Me: Yup! Have at it!
CW: Do you have popcorn balls?
Me: Nope, but I do have tennis elbow.

She complained to the boss.

Half the conversations with my boss end up that way.

It's not even a new or original joke! But apparently it's "not work appropriate" and "potential sexual harassment".

I think she's "looking to be insulted" and "a fucking whack-job".

People are ridiculous - grow a flippin' sense of humor. It's not like you looked down your pants and asked her if she wanted to check. Everyone needs to lighten up. Not everything is racist/sexist/homophobic/etc.

Don't let them bust your
popcorn
balls, Dave. ;)

Tough crowd.

Sounds like someone should ask Santa for a sense of humor.

Latest update to steam is "Fix some games not launching (UPlay games etc)"

Check to see if this has fixed your problem.
Nope, but Ubisoft Support (imagine) actually fixed the problem. They have to manually give your account access to each part of the game, apparently. Oh well. Works now!

So, in case anybody hasn't learned the reason for my recent anti-google+ picture postings, to comment on youtube now you HAVE to have a google+ account. And if you make that concession, and link your old youtube account with your google+ account, the two now become inseperable... so if you ever decide to delete your google+ account, your youtube account, your channel, all your videos, whatever... they go with it. UNACCEPTABLE.

I don't see why not? Essentially you already have two accounts, which seems to be what you want, a Google account and a YouTube account... So why not just make a Google account that you merge to your YouTube for only that purpose?[DOUBLEPOST=1383949771,1383949699][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I didn't realise commenting on YouTube videos was such a big deal. This has been all over my internet wanderings today.

Speaking as someone who already has 3 google accounts for various BS reasons, it's highly inconvenient to switch between them.

Furthermore, the google+ "integration" has actually broken a lot of youtube functionality, as per the video PatrThom posted in the funny picture thread.
