Minor victory thread

A shot glass fell in my waste disposal while I was doing dishes and IT BROKE

so I freaked out and downed several beers in lamentation
but after an informative google search
I FIXED THE DISPOSAL AND ALL WAS WELL

I appreciate that you fixed the sharp disposal fill of broken, sharp glass... after several beers.

Aaaah, you see the magic rests NOT in placing dainty little fingers inside the scary broken disposal of death...
but in first using a partially baked potato to pick up the larger pieces of broken glass
and in crawling under the sink with the right hex wrench and turning the disposal blades manually to dislodge any other pieces ;)

Hello, new name badge! "I'm Mister Manager!" :3

I've been in the same position since 2006, and that position has gone through 3 title changes and 4 general managers. There's been a lot of bad timing, district manager changes, and I've seen many managers come and go, and *finally* it's my time to shine! I'm excited for new responsibilities and new challenges! :)

Played Softball with a group of people yesterday. Can honestly say since I've been exercising and eating better, I've moved from a 'picked last' athlete to a 'slightly average' athlete.

HELL YES.

Awesome. I really have to motivate myself back to the gym/swimming. I haven't been taking care of myself, and while I'm not paying for it in terms of weight because I apparently metabolise as quickly as I eat, I am paying for it in terms of energy and mood.

Also, I got a vegan recipe a while ago I thought I should share with you; I really enjoyed it.

Uh, share brah. Or I was debating making a vegan recipe thread in the heath/advice section.

I *finally* completed drafting a pattern! Between yesterday and today I drafted a pull-over hoodie and a pleated skirt. I made a mock-up of the hoodie and it came out pretty much just how I wanted! There were a few minor edits to make to a couple pieces, and now the pattern is 100%! The skirt I drafted entirely today, and because I had nothing left to do at this point, I went and picked up some fabric too! Hurrah! Now I just have to figure out how to dye this fabric and hope that it turns out okay!

Make sure you wash it before you dye it, and make sure the whole fabric is wet before you dunk it. Speaking from annoyance at my own experimentation this spring. ;)

This is kinda neat. Koby Chamberlain, a local comic book artist, collaborated with a friend of mine who's a composer and made this video. My friend called me in to do the ukulele in the background of one of Bruce Wayne's song. They got Andy Richter to do Bruce Wayne's voice.

It's not *hilarious*, but it was fun to be a part of.

When you get fiberglass in your skin, you can wash most of it away, pick some of it up with tape, but the remainder just stays there irritating you for a few days and most advice ends with "...then wait it out"

I found tonight that when it's really bad, a topical anesthetic spray, like a burn spray, actually helps quite a bit.

That and some Benadryl and I'll probably be able to sleep...
I know that feeling. Far, far short of anything resembling pleasant.

Ichthammol Drawing Salve? Supposed to be able to draw out small foreign substances from the skin.

I've had some success with wearing the tape overnight, but I suppose any topical anasthetic would work.
Also, swim goggles.

So we're getting the puppy at the end of august and needed the yard fenced in. I got cheap and had put a few up with my Dad so we decided to do it ourselves. It's not perfect but it stands and looks pretty damn good.
