[PC Game] Civilization V: Let's Conquer the World

If anyone is interested, I would like to set up a Civ V game with as many human players as possible. We can either try to schedule regular times to play, or set up some kind of turn timer (I think this is possible) such as 24 hours, and if you don't login within that, the turn automatically ends. Details can work out later.

This thread is to gauge interest. I would like to crush you all under my jackboots work with you to build a better world.

Edit: Also, the new DLC is out on July 8, and is 10% off until then.

I have never played with a human before and bet I'd get waxed because of it. Still, sign me up, man!

Exxxxcellent. By the by, you can take one of the lower difficulty levels which will give you benefits to happiness, gpt (I think?), and other things. It obviously won't impact your rivals as it does against AIs, since, you know, we're...us. But it could give you a handicap you might want to take.

I've tried playing with real folk before, the time between turns can get excrutiating.
This can be true... I ended up keeping a journal one game, with what was going on, and my plans, because turns were taking so long. This is one reason I like the idea of a turn-timer

What are our options? I know we can all play simultaneously if we are able to arrange a time together.

Is there other ways to play?

I definitely want in on this. I call the Romans!

You can play a game over several days where each person can log in and take their turn, log out, and so on. Or we can regularly play together. Whatever ends up working.

I'm thinking about setting it up after the newest DLC comes out

It's all about the secret alliances Dave...[DOUBLEPOST=1372270406][/DOUBLEPOST]

Can a game go back and forth between those types? Say we play the turn based thing but then we get a day that everyone can play together for a few hours?

Also, does that mean I need to get the newest DLC to play with you?

Well what I'm thinking is seeing who has the DLC and who doesn't. People with can play with those without (just sans the new things) so we might end up doing that. As to game types, yes. Basically it works like a normal game of Civ: everyone has to take their turn before the turn ends; so if we're all online, that will happen rapidly, but if we're all just logging in once a day, it will be slow. An option is to include a turn-timer, which forces a turn change after X time elapses, to discourage people from not logging in for days and days and holding up gameplay.

Let's just make sure it's a fairly small map. Not tiny, but small or medium at the most. And should we have AI? If so, what level do we want them at?

If it ends up being a lot of humans, maybe one or no AI's. We'll still have citystates after all. I think I'll say we want 8 players, and I'll just fill in the blanks with AI? I'm open to discussion on this. I have a friend outside the forums who wants in, so that's at least 4 of us as for-sures.

This would be fantastic... but I don't know that I could honestly commit to an online game with y'all, given how my work/home schedule gets wonky, at times

It sounds interesting, but I would first have to buy CivV, then play it enough to get familiar with it, etc., before I would want to join in.

Sooo...count me out for now.

I sent an invite to Bubble181 but there are several Timmus...es, so please send Edrondol a friend request.

I'm interested. Bought Civ 5 some time ago and haven't gotten around to trying it yet. Playing a game with real people would be a good excuse to do so. Admittedly, I don't know how well a regular multi-hour sessions would work for me if the idea is to go that route, but I can certainly regularly get on to take my turns in a timely fashion.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm assuming Chad was tutoring an attractive woman, and things have gone along so well that he has no time for silly games of world domination. To which I'd say, more power to him.
