The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

Greg Rucka is one of my favourite writers - both for comics and novels. He was the first writer I tweeted, asking to help spread the word about Dill. And he was, in fact, the only writer to actually do so (thus far).

I recently pledged some moolah for his Kickstarter project and tweeted that I had. He thanked me once, and then thanked me again 2 hours later because he wasn't sure if he'd done so already.

If you'll excuse me, I'll just be over here, nerding out.

Oh fuck. HA!! I totally forgot about that. Man, it sucks growing old!

So how's the planning going?

Crazy as hell, but she just finished vet school so we've got a bit more time to plan. Most of the big things are taken care of (flowers, venue, cake, DJ, photographer, etc), but now it's a lot of little things. I tease her because she's the only one of her friends who never thought about being married, so we're about on equal footing with the whole "how the eff do you plan a wedding" thing, though.

Got my ring, though! http://www.titaniumkay.com/Tungsten-Carbide-Grey-Meteorite-Inlay-Wedding-Band-Ring-P104526.html

Beautiful and WOW, great price!

Thanks! I'm not a huge fan of tradition, I work around/do stuff that would mean my ring would get damaged for sure if it was gold (lab reagents, power tools, manual labor and rock climbing) so I wanted something that wouldn't scratch, dent and be cheap to replace if needed. And I'd rather have meteorite than diamonds.

We totally should hit up the liquor store! I'm working on the local big box electronics store and pet store.

Well, its Canada so no guns, but otherwise its all good - its for the parents - let's make some cash for the playground :D

And I totally agree with your last comment, its an auction for the parents. I'll be all over a tattoo gift certificate. We already have one for snow tires which is also awesome...but you'll never see people whining over that one even though its also totally marketed for parents.

What about the adult book store?

The fiance and I will be going to the Q&A and book signing with Neil Gaiman on July 7th! Absolutely can't wait; I always wanted to meet Ray Bradbury, but never got the chance...not going to miss Neil's last book signing tour and make that mistake again.
I'm in.

Hell yes; I was hoping you'd end up going! We'll be in town a bit earlier (food, possibly beer and swinging by an awesome nearby used book store), so if you want to grab some food/drink/used books together let me know.

I'm sorely tempted to buy a copy of Game of Thrones and ask Neil Gaiman to sign it, "George RR Martin is not your bitch."

Something amazing is 70% happening at work. Trying not to treat it as certainty, but it would be awesome. I'm also weirdly paranoid that if I talk about it too much it won't happen.

Not only am I going to see the new Star Trek tomorrow, I'm going to see it during the work day, and I convinced my manager that it would be a worth while team building exercise, so she's picking up the tickets for the whole group (not just the two of us - that would be weird).

Might want to make sure the drain pipe doesn't "accidentally" end up trying to drain into your basement window, too.

So, uh, today was strange. Woke up today with a text from an extremely hot contractor at our office. We chatted a bit and she asked what I was doing this weekend. My parents bought a boat in the US and I was heading down across the border to help them get it all sorted. She invited herself along. And we ended up spending the entire day together just driving around Washington state shooting the shit, and then had an awesome dinner at an Indian restaurant locally.

Didn't expect that, at all.[DOUBLEPOST=1369101215][/DOUBLEPOST]And then my wife messaged me all cheery inviting me over for dinner on Friday so we can chat.
This part should probably go into the Rant section.

I started doing Roller Derby training today ! My thighs are in pain, which I'm sure will only be worse in the morning, but woo I'm one step closer to being badass!
