The Awesome Videos Thread (with Extra Sauce!)

Hm. Sounds like UMCP is going to be giving our kids in Madison a run for their money.

Wow, I typed that with a straight face. :D

I love this kinda stuff. My only kibitz is they should have had a smooth slider on their yellow lamp, so that it had a "fade in/fade out" kind of effect instead of just being ON/OFF.

This give me lots of goosebumps every single time, especially the male part!

It ain't over til the fat lady sings :)

I wouldn't think that electrical tape would be a very good material for a grip.
Insulating to prevent personal tasering, if properly lightly stretched it has a great slightly tacky grip to it, easy to change if damaged or torn. Could probably improve it with a under-coat of foam style electrical cushion that is usually used on high-voltage installations (660v + ). I think that it would work better (be more effective) to cut the voltage a little so that it wasn't arcing across the gap, but gave the shock of a lifetime when the target was struck.

But then it wouldn't look awesome, and I feel like that's 99% of the point of this project.

Assuming he doesn't plan to actually taser-stab someone.

DRM Chair

An art project chair built to self-destruct after 8 uses. It has sensors and a microcontroller to detect people sitting on it, and after 8 uses it melts the solder at it's joints and collapses in a heap. (Skip to about 1:35 to watch the destruction.)

Wax and nichrome wire (the wire that glows red in a toaster). The prototype apparently used gunpowder, but none of the creators wanted to sit on it.

When I used grill ignition clickers to make triggers for my potato guns, I learned that electrical tape isn't foolproof in protecting you from shocks.
