The only other one I can think of is Wicked. Unless you're counting Tin Man, but that's a complete reimagining.

Well its more a prequel to the creation of the series than the series itself. Its about back how Dorothy was based on a real person that L. Frank Baum was trying to impress with his story. Also its told through the perspective of a gay guy with Aids and trying to find the "real" Dorothy. I hear its good though.

Tin Man was a sci-fi (I refuse to call it the new stupid ass name) chanel miniseries with Zoey Deschanel playing Dorothy in a completely re-imagined Oz. I'm not sure what you're referring to.

It was a book made in the nineties called Was. Like I said, more a prequel to the creation of the story than to the story itself.

When I first saw the stills for this I thought it looked stupid. Now I'm not so sure. It could actually be okay.

Am I the only person who hated the "Wicked" book? People seem to love it but I just found it tedious.

This movie however, looks fantastic.

I just for kicks went and checked out the wiki articles for the books and they are almost as bad as the books. Son of the Witch sounds even worse.

No, no no. I really did not like Wicked. Elphaba (sp?) was totally unsympathetic, the writing was a snooze, the story was a dull inversion, and the author clearly wrote using the thesaurus feature on his word processor.

Even though I liked Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, I TOTALLY see why people wouldn't.

This movie's probably going to get compared to the Wicked musical again and again and again. Hope it's ready for the Wicked fandom onslaught.

I'm a huge Wicked fan and I'm not expecting anything like that musical here, but I'm sure you're right about many of them. I just hope it's not another Alice in Wonderland. SO DISAPPOINT!

Man, how did Burton get away with Alice in Wonderland without getting their asses sued by American Mcgee? Also, why was "Chester A Bum" the only person who made fun of this during the time?

I don't think you can sue someone for having work that is derivative of your derivative work.
