Your Prom Night

Spinning out of the "DAVE!!" thread, how about we share what our senior prom nights were like. Did you get lucky? Drunk? High? Get in a fight? Have vampires invade the school and you wind up burning the whole place down? No, wait, that's Buffy.

So do share.

Mine, despite the running gag on here, was actually really tame. My girlfriend was in the middle of her "lady time," and given that we were both still so new to sex, we were too hesitant to attempt something that potentially messy or gross.

So we danced, then went back to her place for a bit, made out for a bit, then went to a little party at a friend's place. Which was equally tame given that we were all lame High School geeks that didn't drink.

I didn't even have a prom night. Around the time a prom was happening I was living in Project housing with a 2yr old and a cheating wife.

(Backstory: My high school girlfriend got pregnant when I was a Sophmore in High School. I dropped out and started working at Target as an overnight stock boy. While I was out all night, my wife -whom I shotgun married- cheated on me constantly. We lived in Governement Assistance housing and food stamps due to not having any kind of real income)

So basically around the time I actually would have had a prom night, that was my life.

After my prom, my date (who was my girlfriend at the time) and I went to a friend's house for a formal-wear LAN party. Since we didn't want to bring our PC's (as usually we'd play Team Fortress Classic, Unreal Tournament, or even a little Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast) we instead networked some tv's and xboxes together to play Halo.

Insert frag/shag joke I used in the Dave thread.

The closest thing to a prom in Finnish high schools is "The Olden Ball" where sophomores stage a ball for the other students and later for family and faculty. You know, tango, waltz, Lambeth Walk, that kinda stuff... I was unfortunate enough not to find a partner in time, so I paired up with a girl who pretty much treated me like chopped liver for the entire dance class and the ball itself. Now I wasn't expecting any action, but I would have liked a goddamn smile :(

Sorry man. Same thing happened to one of my friends. He asked a girl to go to prom with him, she only said yes because she needed a date, and bailed the moment they got to the dance.

Jokes on her. She missed the LAN party.

Yeah... It just seems that I have the worst luck when it comes to the fairer sex. I never had a girlfriend until I moved to where I live now. The women I've dated have ranged from stand-offish to psychotic. And this year, one of the people I consider my nearest and dearest, a young lady from State-side, simply disappeared with not so much as a "see you later".

My best friend asked the girl I had a huge crush on about a minute before I could manage to get up the nerve to ask, and the girl I did end up taking used me as a way to the prom, so I got ditched for the whole night. Two friends bailed on the limo we planned on renting, so I ended up taking the limo back with a date that had no interest in talking to me, let alone go beyond that, and my best friend and the girl I had a crush on that couldn't keep their hands off each other. It was the high school equivalent of waterboarding.

On our way to the after-prom party, the car I was riding in was hit full on by a saturn whose driver fell asleep and ran a light, T-Boning us into oblivion. It shattered the bottles of booze in the trunk. Half the school drove by later to see me filling out a statement, using a police car hood as a desk, and the rumor come the next day at school was I'd been arrested. (I wasn't).

Oh my prom story is a tale of young love, lust and regret. My boyfriend and I went. We were dressed in our late 80's finest. Him in his white Miami Vice tux (yes, seriously) and me in a bride's maid's dress that was a lovely shade of seafoam green. I had acrylic nails that were dangerously long and a shimmery pale pink. It took my mom 90 minutes to tease my hair straight(ish) and AquaNet it into place. He & I had just gotten back together after being broken up for a few weeks. We were happy again and decided ahead of time that there was no way were were sticking around for the entire event. He didn't like to dance. I didn't give a crap about what jerks in the popular clique would win King and Queen. So we got a hotel room, left prom early, and spent the night together doing what 17 year olds do when they are "in love".
A little background about my high school's prom - the students didn't vote for Prom King & Queen like they do at other schools. The prom chaperons, usually teachers and long-term substitute teachers, were the ones to decide who got the crowns.
So I go to school on Monday still drunk on the happiness and passion of the weekend. One of the substitute teachers who I was very friendly with comes running up to me, grabs my upper arm, pulls me aside and starts yelling "WHERE WERE YOU?! WHY DID YOU LEAVE!?!" in her thick French accent. I was stunned. I had never seen her so agitated. So I asked what she was talking about. Turns out they voted us as king & queen but we already left. The chaperons looked everywhere for us. They had to vote for another couple because we weren't there.

Prom at my school was... special. I went to a very small high school, with a junior class (we had junior prom, instead of senior, stemming from a year when the senior class was made up of only four students, all of them male) of 18 people. We also had a major rift in our class between most of the 14 boys and three of the four girls, stemming from a flippant remark made by one of the guys toward one of the girls back in 5th grade (it's a very long story, but it did work out in the end, once they were willing to talk to each other about it and apologize and shit). The colors were horrible (navy purple, teal, hunter green, and yellow), prom was held in the conference center of a hotel in one of the two nearest large-towns/small-cities. It was '97, so the music was... '97ish? I don't know, I don't really remember the music. Mostly, people took dates from other class years, or if they had an out-of-town boyfriend or girlfriend (like I did), they took that person.

Personally, I took my girlfriend, who was a senior at her own school but hadn't gone to her prom and was happy to come to mine. We had a "nice" dinner at Red Lobster beforehand, which promptly made me sick (I had ulcer problems in my junior year that lasted through most of college) though I was lucky enough not to puke on my tux or her dress. There was no sex, but plenty of kissing and plenty of cleavage-staring-at. And at the end of the night we got in my car and drove back to my place, where we both spent the night, but y'know, in separate rooms, because my parents were home.

For my prom, I really wanted to go with this girl Sonia who I had a huge crush on for years but never dared to make a direct move. A beautiful tall, smart fit blonde girl with the nicest dimples. So I totally get the "she's out of my league" feeling, a feeling a worked damn hard after high school as this following lesson served me a nice cold one.

I started hanging out with her and her best friend (Sandra) during lunch and worked my way on being the cool fat dude (without being fat) in Superbad trying to get it on with Emma "Redhead" Stone. One day Sandra goes, "Oh my god Sandro's hot" and in an effort to gain brownie points I said to her to ask him out. She said no that's too awkward and was shy.

So I go up to him and told him "Hey Sandro, Sonia thinks you're really hot but I don't know what the big deal is *wink*

2 Days later they start talking during lunch, 4 days later they start dating and he took her out to prom while I stood there wondering what the fuck is wrong with me about the same time Sandra asked me out for being a stud.

I thought we were going there mostly as friends but she had a few tricks up her sleeve and knew how to turn me on and flirted first with me all night.

The prom sucked, music was lame, the party was boring and nothing like the shit you see on American TV. We spent most of the night hanging out in the limo being driven around. We were the last being dropped off since she lived the furthest. She rewarded me with a blowjob in the limo.

We went out a few times afterwards, sealed the deal but nothing ever came out of it after high school as College was our lives and we went to different ones.

Talking about high school stuff can be so stupid sometimes.

Sonia and Sandro are married now with a kid though.

So, Good Guy Jay, eh?

Asked a girl I liked, danced at the prom, got drunk at the post prom party, made out, we've been dating 2 and a half years now.

T'was a very good night.

As I said in the other thread, mine was the last grad that there was a wet bar at. Drinking age in Alberta is 18 so generally (generally!) we were all of legal drinking age. I was not. The bar didn't bother to check with 300 kids to have to keep track of we were given hand stamps to show we were 18. Stamps that when made wet will transfer to someone else.

The night was filled was dancing, crying and all around good times overall. Everyone looked great. It was a good time.

Was dumped by my girlfriend two weeks before Valentines Day. We'd originally planned on going to the Leaver's Ball (British equivalent of the prom) together, but that sort of blew that plan to hell.

So instead I sat around at home on the night of the Leaver's Ball, watching TV and eating junk food.

Eh, we weren't all that compatible anyway. Probably for the best.

I can't remember what I did at all. I have a Homecoming Dance story, but.. I'm drawing a blank on Prom. I know I didn't go, but I can't remember why. It wasn't some sort of "fuck school dances!" thing since, as I said, I went to all four Homecoming Dances. I dunno. Maybe I skipped Prom since it was too formal / too much pressure to have a date? Or was something else going on in my life then? I feel old and/or just really memory-deficient

Did police attend these dances? Because I can see a corollary there for you.

My girlfriend of over three years dumped me two weeks before prom (after admitting she slept with another guy nearly twice my age behind my back). I ended up going stag with my friends, only to see her there with a completely different guy who I'd never seen before. Yeah, I didn't particularly like my prom. :(

Hmmm. Since I organised it, as head of the student council thingy, I had to open the dance. Did so with my vice president. Luckily, she was the hot redhead I had a crush on at the time. Unluckily, she was still dating one of my best friends at the time. I didn't bring another date (seriously, who wants to date someone who will open the dance with someone else? Also, I was a huge nerd and very good at the "good friend" thing). Had a good time though. Some of the people there are still friends, most of them I've lost sight of.
Year before, I helped organising as well, as did my later vp. She stayed over at my place that night (no,, nothing happened that year, either) and we crashed my brother's car when he was driving her home. Eh.

Didn't actually go to a Prom. Had a dinner with other kids from our church group, went to one family's home on Lake Michigan and ended up playing pinball in their rec room until, like, 3 in the morning.

I went with no date. I didn't want to go, but mom bought me a dress and said that if I loved it, I had to go to the prom--that it was fate or something like that, heh. So I tried it on and loved it.

I hung with my friends, didn't drink at all (didn't start til I was 19). That's where Jake and I first decided we wanted to start seeing one another. We danced a lot and really opened up to one another. I don't think I remember a single other thing from that night, except I stole a Humphrey Bogart cardboard cutout.

I was planning on going with my then girlfriend, but then she broke up with me after revealing that she had been cheating on me during half of our time dating each other. Rather than going to prom, I opted for going to the movies.

Due to moving I actually homeschooled for my 9th and 10th grade of high school and I was motivated so when I finished the 10th grade I was done with all highschool. So I was 17, done with high school and living on my own. While I didn't go to Prom I did a post Prom date with a friend of mine and some other folks from the local highschool.

Asked a friend I knew through my church who lived in a small town about an hour away from the city. I had a huge crush on her (as did all the other guys my age at the church) and she was quite well-endowed. There were some other people she knew who attended my high school (whom she also knew through church circles) so it wasn't too awkward for her. I had asked another friend at my school previously (whom we both knew - again, church circles) but she turned me down as she was "cool" and I was not.

My high school rents out the ball rooms at one of the local hotels for the formal dinner, awards, dance etc. We didn't dance because neither of us were so inclined, but we had a great time. Then they host a "safe-grad" in the school, in an effort to cut down on underage drinking and such. They had a professional hypnotist, sumo-suits for wrestling, games, prizes, food, etc. The best part of the night is that they turn most of the second floor into a haunted house and have some staff and alumni run it. Everything is covered with black garbage bags or cloth, and they actually do a fantastic job of it. It's pretty freaking scary. You go thru the haunted house in groups, so I ended up going with my date, my friend (who had turned me down), her date and a teacher who taught french and history. The teacher was the kind you always suspected of sleeping with students. Tall, leggy redhead. Always wore skirts that were a little too short and sat on desks.

So, there's one room where the "guide" gets you through the door and then leaves and locks it behind him. It's totally dark. Completely black. Then, there are other people in the room, running at you, screaming, and touching you with branches or something. The girls totally lost it, crying and screaming. I thought it was hysterical. But my hand ended up on someones boob, quite by accident. No sure if it was my friend or the teachers, but it wasn't my dates - much too small. No one said anything afterwards about it, so I guess they didn't mind! ;)

We got back to my house around 6 am and crashed. Nothing else happened afterwards that night. Never dated her, but I did see her topless twice, some years later.
