[NHL] 2017-18 NHL - 100 Years (aka The Rise of the Golden Knights)

It is officially the Off Season.

Time for:
  • The NHL Awards Ceremony
  • The Expansion Draft (Hello Las Vegas!)
  • The Entry Draft (aka the Nolan Patrick Sweepstakes)
  • Free Agent Frenzy
  • Rookie Orientation Camps
Oh, and the NHL GM's meeting to discuss rule changes, like what exactly wipes out a good goal...

They're evidently going to trade Beaulieu and Galchenyuk, what sad return Bergevin will get for these guys remains to be appreciated.

This time, Rinne for Price?
Cmon, you don't really blame Rinne for that series...you blame @DarkAudit ;)[DOUBLEPOST=1497500933,1497500487][/DOUBLEPOST]Here's what I'm gonna say about the Pittsburgh Penguins, and I am NOT directing this at DA at all - I think he's a legitimate fan who is just happy his team won.

.

.

.

So, yeah, he's one of a very few. The Penguins almost folded and/or moved - TWICE EACH - and it took a cancer-ridden Mario Lemieux to keep them put. I do not like or trust most Pens fans, and I wouldn't be shocked if the team ends up in the same situation within 10 years of the golden boy retiring. It's not a good fan base and that sucks. I actually went back and forth about Chicago for the same reason but I decided to side with the fans because it's not their fault that a shitty owner wouldn't even air games because it cost too much. So good for them that people that actually care about hockey took precidence over things once the shit-head owner died. Still can't believe Joel Quenville is a multiple-cup winning coach.

...But anyway, Fuck Kid Sid and the Penguins.

Sorry. I had hockey takes.

I don't blame DA. I blame the refs.

Two calls gave the Pens the Cup. It also appears that James Neal was playing most of the final two rounds with a broken hand.

Well you got Drouin. That's something.
It's something but depends if they plan to play him or Galchenyuk at center, permanently.

Sergachev was a stiff price though, he's our #1 prospect and is going to be a great puck moving d-man. Those aren't a dime a dozen but Habs really pined for Drouin and the local French media are elated to say the least.... so that buys Bergevin 2 years now... unless a huge disaster of a season.

Is it so hard to go back to royal blue?

Also, I'm not sure how we ended up being the only team that does numbers on the front, but I'm glad we do.

Nashville and Columbus look like pajama tops, the Islanders sleeves seem too white, Buffalo's blue is too dark, Oilers are bleh. Fuck everything Adidas has ever done in jersey design.

A lot of the extraneous piping is gone. They didn't go nuts with three-stripes all over the place. Hey, could be worse. They could have gone with Nike in full Oregon Ducks mode. :troll:

I see your point. It's why I say the same about Nike...

(Yeah that's supposed to be a 5.)
And for the big finish...
And did I mention EVERY SINGLE ELEMENT on the jersey has to have some compelling backstory behind it? Like how the numerals are supposed to represent the coal miner's pickaxe? FUCK NIKE. FUCK PHIL KNIGHT.
Represent the miner's pickaxe? Nice try, but they can't seriously expect me to believe they think an upside-down 2 as a 5 is a pickaxe and not just being too damn lazy to have a 5 template and a 2 template.

I can understand not liking the design choices Nike makes, but I can almost certainly say laziness is not a factor.

Not sure how we managed to get Emelin and his overpriced contract off Habs books for NOTHING but that was a nice relief.

Still need to see how opening day roster shakes out, but you have to at least applaud the aggressiveness of Vegas as they attempt to hit the ground running and not just be a permanent marker W on other team's schedules. As of right now they're picking 6, 13, and 15 in the first round this year.

Yeah yeah, seems like the Leafs are still trying to win the Cup like they did in '67: get a bunch of old guys together and pray that only four teams make the playoffs.

Habs blowing 10% of the team salary in a franchise goalie with a few injury plagued seasons as of late and mediocre playoff success. Brilliant.

Oh and signed a poor puck possession stay at home d-man for 5 mill a year for half a decade and won't cough up the $$$ for Radulov.

That's 90ies hockey all right.

Right now, Hatcher would have gotten a few games and a few fists.

No they would toss him for a large amount. Back then he got the second longest suspension in NHL history for that hit; 7 games.

So the NBC schedule is out. It's another lazy effort on their part, filled with uninspiring matchups that will do little to help the sport. On the bright side I only have 1 reason outside the playoffs to subject myself to Pierre McQuire this year.
