What, no Pokemon Go thread?

The newest update seems to have hit my phone. While I haven't seen any new Pokémon yet, I've noticed all my Pokémon have genders now (making some of their names awkward, but whatev). Are they going to let us breed them? I haven't seen that in any of the announcements.

And for a minor rant...with the costume update, they seemed to have removed the red hair. Or now it's more reddish brown. I had the same problem with my Mii back in the day. Is it really that hard to make red when you can have blue or purple? C'mon Japan.
The updates are rolled out in phases over different regions (update isn't live in Europe yet, for example), and server-side updates (such as the release of new Pokémon) are worldwide, so they tend to wait with those until all regions have had the update. Probably by the weekend.

Got the notice of the update on the way home from work, right when I'm about to collect my pokestop for the day.... downloaded the update, fired it up and first pokemon to pop up was a Spinarak. I'll post a picture from Tapatalk in a couple of minutes.

Holy fucking bugs, and I don't mean the new Pokemon! I'm stuck on a screen where the ball is bouncing and I had just thrown one at the Pokemon. Instead of going into the ball, the Pokemon and ball disappeared and I'm just looking at the screen witht he bouncing ball. Great!

And sheesh, I can see 3 unknown profiles nearby, but my Pokemon Go won't load Pokemon, stops, the shop, or...well, anything but the map of the city, really. Servers are burning :p

Good thing I checked my game after you guys posted! A quick walk up the block gave me 2 Sentrets, a Ledian, 2 Spinaraks, a Hoppip, a Murkrow and a Skarmory. These are probably the new Weedles/Rattatas/Pidgeys of Johto, but it feels weird to finally have shadows showing up again!

Gentoo's out here in Taiwan too. If I ever catch a Larvitar it shall be my buddy forever, because Tyranitar is awesome.

At least until generation 3 comes out, at which point I'm switching to Metagross.

Had a pretty productive lunch break. Sentret, Furret, Ledyba, Chinchou, Natu, Marill, Hoppip, bunch of Sunkerns, bunch of Woopers, Murkrow, Slugma, Corsola, and Remoraid.

Also grabbed a Yanma. Have you guys encountered Yanma yet? Mofo's a pain in the ass to catch.

Went for a walk after work and got sentret, hoothoot, ledyba, ledian, spinarak, chinchou, natu, marill, aipom, wooper, murkrow, misdreveous, gligar, sneasel, swinub, remoraid, octillery, mantine, phanpy and donphan. Also managed to get a hitmonlee finally too. Love having new stuff, even if I've already caught a fair bit today, was super tired of just seeing the same 3 all over here.

I'll have you know, I'm an Noctowl, not a Hoothoot ,thank you very much! :p

I've caught one of each, by the way....of course the game decided to bug out while I was catching the Noctowl, but I still managed to get it. While I really like the fact that the new Pokémon move around more than the first generation, it doesn't always go smoothly - I've had Pokémon fly below the ground, behind me, keep on jittering/stuttering, and so on.[DOUBLEPOST=1487364898,1487364596][/DOUBLEPOST]Screenshot_2017-02-17-21-52-59.png

...Well it was a female, what did you expect me to call it?! :p

Good luck getting past the wall that is Blissey now.
I took down a CP 2600 Blissey today, I had 1 second remaining... It's not that Blissey hits that hard, but her HP pool is near infinite. I've seen a gym (luckily, my own team :p) with 4 Blisseys in it. Even if you *can* take them down, why would you want to? It takes ages! And for a CP3000+ Blissey, I simply don't have the firepower.

This is where Niantic should implement the physical/special split in the handheld Pokemon games, so that Blissey can be taken down strategically instead of just through attrition.

I had a similar problem with an 1800 Blissey today. I had to fight it twice because I timed out the first time. Damn Blisseys!

You should conquer gyms and place the Dragonite in there alone. :D
Mr. Z and I actually have a strategy similar to this. Certain gyms we know will fill up with our team and stay untouched for weeks, or months, so we toss in a decent Pokemon. Other local gyms we know have a high turnover, we'll throw in a garbage Pokémon just to collect the Pokecoin, and when it gets knocked out, we don't bother healing it, just get the candy.

There was a few days us and a few other Mystics had a gym housed entirely with Weedles. We called it Weedle Nation. It was glorius.

A week-or-so ago, an Instinct team made a gym nearby that was all Chanceys, which was cute, but it got taken out the next day. If they try the same thing with Blisseys, no one is ever getting that gym back.
