HALFORUMS EMPYRION SERVER – SERVER RULES – Last Updated 6/6/18

SECTION 1: ADMINS

1)      The decisions of GasBandit are final, regardless of how they relate to other rules, and supercede the decisions of any junior admins (without prejudice). He owns the server, his rules.

2)      Admins/moderators will not use blueprints/ships/equipment not available to ordinary players while “playing” other than as necessary in the commission of duties as admins/mods, in which case the items/ships will be disposed of immediately once the situation warranting their creation is resolved.  Likewise, admins/mods will not use GM mode while engaged in PvP, and will not acquire resources for their “play” time through means unavailable to ordinary players.

3)      Admins will not use their abilities to “troll” users, no matter how harmless. This includes (but is not limited to) editing/destroying active player structures, painting/texturing, spawning hostile monsters, etc. Admins are here to ensure a smooth gaming experience for users, not to flex nuts or bully players for laughs.

4)      Admins will not favor any player over another, nor use their GM abilities to give any player an undue advantage, such as scouting/performing reconnaissance, altering inventories, stats, or quantities of objects to benefit any player.

SECTION 2: PVE

1)      Users may not build bases/park ships in such a way that they obstruct other players from resource deposits (PvE only. This is fine in PvP).  Attempting to destroy/squander a resource meteor/deposit (in either PvE or PvP) so that another player can’t have it is a dick move and is subject to punishment.

2)      Any user found with impossible/hacked items (IE, a stack of 999 refined pentaxid, debug weapons/tools, alien/admin blocks, etc) will be summarily banned and all their ships and bases destroyed. GASBANDIT CAN SEE YOUR INVENTORY.  Don’t try me.

3)      Move out into the larger world at some point; don’t just stay on Akua/Tallodar.  If a starter world becomes overpopulated with base structures, a wipe may become necessary, and it’d be a shame to have all your eggs in a basket on Akua.  It is recommended that you build yourself a heavily defended base somewhere far away from a planet – 15 or more km away is best, if you don’t want to be found.

4)      The alpha nature of the game means that sometimes things will break and/or disappear. Go into this knowing that can happen.  An admin will not help “replace” vanished items, as it can’t be proven they ever existed in the first place.

5)      Build space stations/orbital bases at least 10km from a planet.  Nobody likes the lag caused by 10 big shipyards 1k from the planet.  Violators of this rule may get a warning/moved base if the admin is feeling generous, or may simply have their bases destroyed from the server console.

6)      Completely destroying every last block of a POI is forbidden, without express permission given from GasBandit.  Exceptions can be made under special arrangement (IE, “This POI is blocking a deposit”), but permission must be sought first.

SECTION 3: PVP

1)      A faction may not have more than 5 structures with base cores on the same playfield.  Violation of this rule will cause an admin to destroy what they judge to be the most valuable structures until you/your faction are/is under quota. THIS INCLUDES PRIVATE STRUCTURES OF FACTION MEMBERS. 5 total of all of the above.  Any attempt to rules-lawyer around the spirit of this rule will result in additional punishment.

2)      Players may not use blueprints to deploy base structures/CVs “offensively” (IE, in weapons range of an enemy base or CV).  If you are caught doing this, you may be suspended or banned depending upon the egregiousness of the offense.

3)      Creating ships/bases solely for the purposes of “lagging out” other players (IE, egregiously numerous light sources, etc) is forbidden.  Violators will be punished in a manner the admin finds appropriate (you won’t like it).

4)      Blockading/ambushing at warp-in points is expressly forbidden.  Anyone caught intentionally doing this will, at the very least, lose all structures and ships involved as punishment.  A suspension may also be applied.

5)      Admins are not PvP referees (unless voluntarily part of an actual event that requires a referee such as a race or arena match), and will only intervene in matters of PvP if a party in the conflict is in violation of these rules.

SECTION 4: OTHER

1)      While global chat isn’t moderated, per se, excessively offensive/vulgar/harassing/spammy use of chat may get an admin to shut you up, one way or another.  Be reasonable.  Additionally, discussion of illegal activities in chat may result in a ban.  Slurs and epithets based on, but not limited to, descriptions of sexual alignment, race, gender, or other such categories are expressly forbidden and will be dealt with severely.

2)      Name your stuff with unique names, if you expect an admin to be able to help you get it back when there’s a problem.  CV_Prefab_Tier-whatever” will just get a “lol sorry.”

3)      Don’t build on Bonanza. It wipes every day. Nothing lost on Bonanza will be replaced, ever, regardless of circumstance.  Bonanza Orbit does not wipe. Build there instead, if you want to be close to Bonanza.

4)      Intentionally exploiting bugs for any purpose is subject to punishment.  This should go without saying, but is being stated here explicitly so there is no ambiguity.

5)      When in doubt, just try not to be a dick about things, and you’ll probably be fine.

6)      Voting reward: If you vote for the server at https://empyrion-servers.com/server/21535/ , the server will reward you with 6000 credits! Just type /reward in chat after voting, and your account will be increased by 6000 credits.  Only vote once per day.

7)      These rules are subject to change without notice.  The most current rules will be hosted at http://www.halforums.com/EmpyrionRules.htm and will be considered authoritative and will override any others except as stated in section 1, rule 1.
