Ireland, Day 2 photos!

So, for our first "real day" in Ireland, we actually got up late and took it pretty easy.


This is another view from our front porch area. We just never did get over how green and beautiful the country was, no matter where we went.


Our first meal that wasn't fish and chips was pretty awesome. For about 40 euro, we got two meals, an appetizer, and a couple of pints of Guinness. It was soooo much better than the JFK experience. I got warm beef salad, which was strips of grilled beef and veg on top of salad greens with horseradish dressing and a basalmic glaze. It was freaking fantastic. We also shared some fried brie, with raspberry jam. Also freaking amazing.

After the pub, we did a little souvenir shopping. Cindy got some soap and yarn, and I got a whistle (of course!). I had to take it for a test drive once we got outside the shop.



There were flowers everywhere! Every shop and house seemed to have little gardens of flowers. That bunch of roses was pretty impressive...all of those roses were coming out of a single stem! I don't know how they did it, but it looked just like a ready-grown bouquet

Once we got done shopping, we went home, relaxed for a bit, and decided to walk up the road a pace to see what we could see.





Right next door to our home were these ruins of an old thatched roof cottage. It was very chilly so we're wearing the scarves that Calli knitted for us.

This waterfall was small and hidden. You couldn't see it while driving, and really wouldn't spot it by walking either. Only the telltale sounds of splashing water gave it away. It's just the kind of place fairies might play, don't you think?


Once we'd gone about a mile, we'd gotten to Doonagore castle.

By this time, we were feeling a little worn out and still a little jet lagged, and it was starting to get dark, so we turned around and headed back home for the day. All of our big adventuring didn't really start until the next day

So far no familiar scenery, but hey, didn't go near Doolin anyhow ^^ I am, however, being hit by nostalgia like a nail in a woodworking class.

I am, however, being hit by nostalgia like a nail in a woodworking class.

So am I. Been to Ireland in '93 and '95 and absolutely miss it every time I see pictures. I've actually been to Doolin as well as traveling all around the country. No planned route, just a car and a map and hopping from one B&B to another. Great times!

These are great pictures allround, they really capture the spirit of the countryside!
