I'm looking for feedback here about the Fade site itself.
Do you find things intuitive and easy to navigate?
Do you notice the news posts under the pages?
If you could change anything, what would it be?
Background: I roll everything by hand, in a simple text editor (well, and photoshop). I like that, because it keeps the code and the site from ballooning into something unintuitive. (I do pro web design on the side, for the record.)
Technical: The site works now by loading an entire issue at once, and it uses Javascript to flip through a single issue. When it detects an issue "boundary", it jumps to the next. Why do it this way? It keeps the page from "jumping" when you change the page. In other words, if you've scrolled down, you don't jump back to the top when you hit "Next" or "Previous". The downside is that your browser back and forward buttons don't work--a classic problem with Javascript image replacement. I've played with ways to enable back and forward, including a lot of web 2.0 solutions, but they always feel like overkill. Instead, I just included a Permalink button.
